Reflecting on 2018: Documentary

My favorite category! It should come as no surprise at this point that my favorite images are the ones in between the poses. I am drawn to the real emotion that you can capture as witness to events rather than attempting to create moments with too much posing. I want to do more of this in 2019 - follow your family (or you and your partner/dog/anything) with my camera and just snap away.

Reflecting on 2018: Love

Next up: Love! It was hard not to choose pretty much every photo I take for the love category because that is what I most require in my images. But, I restricted this category to couples only.

I find, when I shoot families, that most parents only want to be in a few images, if any. I usually have to ask for a snap of the parents alone and looking back, they aren’t that creative. That needs to change! Be warned 2019 parents, I want more love between you as well!

I don’t shoot too many weddings on my own. But in addition to my own business, I also work in the industry with Off Beet Productions, shooting almost 20 weddings in 2018! So, to answer your question, YES, I do weddings!!

Jessemyn & Andrew

Nineteen years ago, Jessemyn and Andrew dated as teenagers not knowing that it would take almost two full decades before they made the legal commitment of marriage. To them, it changes nothing about their relationship, and it is clear that 19 years hasn’t diminished their love for each other one bit!

Reflecting on 2017: Best of Children & Families

The crux of my business is spent with children reaching milestones, and their families. This is so much fun to spend time (usually year after year) with people who become friends, and getting to watch their babies grow up. It isn't without challenges but there's usually an even sweeter reward when the session turns out great despite it all!

Reflecting on 2017: Best of Love

To say this is a "best of" post is unfair. My opinion of favorites changes quite often. So let's call it a highlight reel from the last year!

See below for some snaps of love through my lens. And by the looks of it, our forevers can happen at any age!

Brian + Gerard

Summer is over, so let's restart it, ok? Back just as the anticipation of warm weather was on the horizon, Brian and Gerard solidified a long, beautiful relationship and became husband and husband. It was an intimate group, where they dined among memories full of celebration, celebrity, and wine, LOTS of wine. If those walls could talk...

Brotherly Love

There is amazement in every single part of becoming/being a parent. And then you have another, and the wonder starts all over again, this time as you watch your baby become a sibling. There isn't much sweeter in the world than watching your children together.

Cuzlings

It's such a beautiful thing to create a family, and to have your family grow by another sibling. To also get to share this experience with your own siblings, that is something truly incredible.
